Security and safety is at the top of my list when it comes to most things in life. When it comes to my vehicle, that thought process does not change. I recently bought a new pick up truck and wanted something to protect my work tools while I’m out in the field as well as working in shady areas. My work tools range from firearms and self-defense tools to camera and video equipment. Judging from that assortment, if my gear were to be stolen, there wouldn’t just be monetary loss but also some added liability. I searched around the internet and found the Console Vault.

The Console Vault looked pretty good on paper. It was made from 12-gauge steel, offered a lifetime warranty and came custom fitted from my Chevy Colorado. Installation was as simple as dropping in the Console Vault, into my console and affix 2 screws. I reached out to Console Vault to make sure that the safe fit my 2021 Chevy Colorado. I received a reply almost instantly and they confirmed that I was good to go with my pick up. I went ahead and placed my order.

The Console Vault arrived in a couple of days. I unboxed it, gave it a once-over and was happy with what I was seeing and feeling. The safe looked good and you can tell that it was built to last. It came with a 4-digit combination lock that was drill resistant. There are a couple of instruction sheets that come with the Console Vault. One sheet explains the simple install and the other sheet has directions on configuring your combo lock. Just be sure to set your new combo code before you install your Console Vault. It is recommended by the company and will simplify the process.

I set my new combination for the lock and brought the Console Vault over to my truck for the install. As described, the install was a breeze. Drop the safe in and attach 2 screws with a socket wrench. I was done in less than 5 minutes. As mentioned, the process is described in detail on the accompanying install sheet. Just follow the directions and there will be no issues.

Rules and laws vary greatly depending on your location. When it comes to stowing firearms, ammo, self defense tools… Make Sure that you know what is and is not legal and know your rights; especially when it comes to a locked safe in your vehicle.
