The Right Tool For The Right Job.”

Here Is My Video Review On The SIRT Training Knife:

When it comes to training knives, there are countless options available in today’s market. If a certain knife is popular, there is a good chance that there is a trainer version available. If you enjoy knife training as much as I do, then you will also feel that this abundance of training knives is a good thing. But… we have to keep in mind that there is always the right tool for the right job.

When it comes to knife training, there are various ranges or distances that we train from. In close range, where elbows and headbutts can be exchanged, most of my existing training knives are less than ideal at this range. Hard polymer and aluminum made trainers can cause a great deal of harm to the students as well as myself, when trying to deploy effective tactics.

About 6 months ago, I received 3 new trainers, made by SIRT, at my HQ. I was familiar with the SIRT name as well as the parent company NextLevel Training. I was familiar with them for a couple of reasons. One reason being that I bought one of their training laser pistols, years back. The second reason is that one of my USMC brothers -Gary Drake- who helped design this knife, is part of the SIRT training team.

As you can imagine, I was quite eager to put these new trainers to use and see what they were all about.

SIRT Training Knife Review

I have had the SIRT knife trainers for about 6 months. I train with them often and so do my students. After countless hours of training with my SIRT knives, I found them to be ideal; especially in a close range scenario. The SIRT trainers have a flexible rubber blade. This allows us to fully deploy strikes and thrusts, including at close range, without causing damage to our training partner(s).

The SIRT mimics the size of a standard folding knife, when opened, which is what I carry on a daily basis. This allows my training to closely resemble encounters that may occur on the street. The fact that we don’t need to hold back, in our training sessions, allows us to prepare much better if a real world encounter were to occur.

The SIRT Trainer Is:

  • Easy to differentiate from real knives
  • Durable rubber blade stands up to abuse. We bent it hundreds of thousands of times to test it
  • Great for scenario training

Bottom Line:

If you are in the market for new knife trainers or want to add some diversity to your existing training, take a close look at these SIRT training knives. These are designed by those with real world experience and… are built to last.
